Committee Formed to Review New Gas Connections for Industries

The Energy Division has formed a committee to review the provision of new gas connections to industrial establishments. The committee, headed by the chairman of Petrobangla, includes representatives of business associations. It has been asked to submit its recommendations within seven days.

The committee includes a director from the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), a director from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), a representative of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMEA), the president of the Bangladesh Terry Towel and Linen Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BTLMEA), the president of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), former director engineer Rajib Haider, the managing directors of all gas distribution and marketing companies, and the managing director of the Gas Transmission Company Limited (GTCL). The director (Operations and Mines) of Petrobangla will serve as the member-secretary of the committee.

The committee will review proposals received from various industrial establishments seeking gas connections and recommend gas allocation within seven days. If necessary, it may co-opt one or more relevant and qualified individuals.
