Montenegro moves to crush fugitive crime boss’s hidden property empire

Montenegro may still be struggling to put its most wanted fugitive behind bars, but prosecutors are now going after something that could hurt a criminal empire almost as much as an arrest: its money.

Montenegrin prosecutors have asked the High Court in Podgorica to permanently confiscate more than 54,000 square meters of real estate, along with luxury vehicles, allegedly linked to fugitive crime boss Radoje Zvicer and his wife, Tamara Zvicer.

The Special State Prosecutor’s Office submitted the request on October 7, targeting a sprawling collection of apartments, houses, commercial properties, forests, meadows and other land that prosecutors believe was acquired with criminal proceeds and concealed through relatives, associates, companies and other intermediaries.
