Summit LNG Terminal to Remain Shut for Four Days from November 4, Gas Supply to Decline

সূত্র: Energy Bangla / বাংলাদেশ

From the report

Gas supply from Summit’s floating LNG terminal in Maheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar, will remain suspended from 8:00 am on November 4 to 4:00 pm on November 7 for emergency maintenance. During this period, daily gas supply to the national grid from the two LNG terminals will decline from 920 million cubic feet to 600 million cubic feet. Gas pressure may drop across the country.

According to a notice issued by Petrobangla, LNG regasification operations at Summit’s terminal will remain suspended during the scheduled period. As a result, daily gas supply to the national grid will decrease by 320 million cubic feet.

Currently, the country’s daily gas demand stands at around 3.8 billion cubic feet, while supply is approximately 2.65 billion cubic feet, leaving a shortfall of around 1.15 billion cubic feet. Of the total supply, 920 million cubic feet comes from the two LNG terminals. The suspension of operations at Summit’s terminal will reduce LNG supply, potentially worsening the gas crisis in the power, industrial and residential sectors.
