The Red-Green alliance: When radical socialism and political Islam unite against the West

Source: Blitz / Bangladesh

From the report

The West faces an uncomfortable political contradiction: movements that disagree on religion, morality, gender, and individual freedom can nevertheless unite against the same institutions. On one side stands the radical left, promising economic justice through redistribution and the dismantling of capitalist structures. On the other stands political Islamism, seeking to reshape society according to religious authority. Their worldviews may collide on almost everything-but their opposition to the existing Western order can bring them together.

Critics call it the Red-Green Alliance. Its danger lies not in the mere coexistence of socialism and Islam, but in the willingness of radical factions to suspend their differences in pursuit of shared political power.

The alliance deserves scrutiny. But understanding it requires separating legitimate political grievances from extremism, and evidence from sweeping ideological accusations.
