Houthi attacks and the global cost of insecurity

সূত্র: Blitz / বাংলাদেশ

From the report

Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia have consequences that extend far beyond the Middle East, threatening global energy supplies, international trade, civil aviation and regional stability. While civilians are the immediate victims, the economic and political repercussions reach countries thousands of miles away. Treating these attacks as a purely Saudi or regional problem overlooks their wider implications for international security and the global economy.

Saudi Arabia occupies a strategic position in the global energy system. As one of the world’s leading oil exporters, the Kingdom plays a vital role in maintaining stable energy supplies. Its oil facilities, export terminals and transportation networks serve international markets, while its geographical position places it near some of the world’s most important shipping routes. Attacks on these assets can disrupt markets, increase transportation costs and raise prices for consumers worldwide.

The central question is how the international community should respond when missiles and drones become instruments of political pressure against states and civilian infrastructure. If such tactics are allowed to continue without effective consequences, armed groups may increasingly use them to undermine security and influence international economic activity.
