Houthis, get off the train before the return ticket becomes too expensive
From the report
There is a Japanese proverb that offers an unusually blunt lesson in strategic wisdom: if you board the wrong train, get off at the nearest station. The longer you remain aboard, the more expensive the journey back becomes.
Few actors in the Middle East have a greater need to absorb that lesson than Yemen’s Houthi militia.
For years, the Houthis have pursued a strategy built on confrontation, coercion and regional proxy warfare. They seized control of Yemen’s capital and undermined the country’s legitimate political order, while repeatedly expanding their military activities beyond Yemen’s borders. Their missile and drone attacks have threatened civilian and energy infrastructure in neighboring states, while their activities in and around the Red Sea have transformed one of the world’s most important maritime corridors into a theater of geopolitical confrontation.
