442MW Solar Power Plant Being Built in Rampal

A 442-megawatt solar power plant is being constructed in Rampal of Bagerhat. An allocation of Tk 2,498.08 crore has been made for the project, which will be implemented by the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).

The project was approved at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) held at the Secretariat on Wednesday. Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Tarique Rahman presided over the meeting.

The Power Division said the plant is being developed to increase renewable energy-based power generation, diversify the country’s energy mix and reduce carbon emissions.
