From the report

Design in Bangladesh Week 2026 officially opened at the United Convention Centre, Dhaka, bringing 100 Bangladeshi designers onto one collective platform and runway to showcase the country’s growing capacity in design, creativity, craftsmanship, innovation, product development and creative entrepreneurship.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr. S. M. Ziauddin Hyder, Special Assistant to the Honorable Prime Minister on Health Affairs, with the status of State Minister, as Chief Guest. In his address, Dr. Hyder welcomed the participation and work of 100 designers and encouraged the Design in Bangladesh platform to continue developing as a collaborative creative hub connecting talent, heritage, enterprise, industry and opportunity. He also highlighted the relevance of “One Village, One Product” and the 3D in BD vision — Discovered, Designed & Developed in Bangladesh — as approaches that can help create greater value from Bangladesh’s own creative capacity.

Design in Bangladesh Week positions design as an important contributor to Bangladesh’s creative economy — connecting original ideas and cultural knowledge with research, product development, manufacturing, branding, entrepreneurship and market access. The initiative seeks to complement the country’s wider ambition to strengthen innovation, value addition and creative enterprise by building stronger connections between creative talent and Bangladesh’s established production ecosystem.
