American workers fight back against campaign targeting the Data Center industry

From the report
A landmark lawsuit raises serious questions about alleged intimidation, political activism and the economic interests behind opposition to America’s data center expansion.
For years, the debate over America’s rapidly expanding data center industry has largely revolved around technology companies, environmental concerns, energy consumption and local opposition. Yet one group has frequently been overlooked: the American workers whose livelihoods depend on building and maintaining these facilities. A new federal lawsuit filed on behalf of an electrician in Washington state is bringing their interests into the spotlight and raising important questions about the tactics used to oppose the industry.
The proposed class-action lawsuit, filed by Impresa Legal Group on November 4 in the US District Court for the Western District of Washington, represents Monte Pringle, a licensed electrician and member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 191. According to the law firm, Pringle lost multiple long-term employment opportunities over the past two years because of an alleged coordinated campaign targeting data center companies, their employees and contractors.
